The 777th ATM of Union Bank of India (UBI) is located in Kupup, India. Kupup is a hamlet in the Indian state of Sikkim near the border with China.
On April 6, 2007, the Union Bank of India (UBI) established this ATM machine, India's Highest ATM, in the Kupup area near the mountainous Nathu la Pass at a height of 14,300 feet.
The 14,300-foot-high ATM, which actually opened primarily for army personnel along the Sino-India border, now also facilitates tourists.
Though this ATM counter is mainly meant for use by Indian army jawans posted at the Sino-India border, tourists visiting the international mountain pass can also use it.
The UBI had installed its 777th ATM in Kupup with the intention of stationing itself at a popular tourist spot to catch the attention of tourists who visit the Baba Mandir complex daily.
This UBI ATM machine is located in a prominent corner of the famous Baba Mandir complex.
Even though Nathu La Pass is undoubtedly one of the world's most dangerous roads, it has always been a dream destination for adventure lovers!
India's Second-Highest ATM
On December 12, 2003, UTI Bank launched its new ATM at Thegu, near the Nathu-la Pass in Sikkim at a breathtaking height of 4,023 meters (13,200 feet) above sea level.
At that time, it was the highest ATM in India.
Beating this record, the Union Bank Of India launched its new ATM machine at an unbelievable altitude of 14,300 feet at Kupup on April 6, 2007.
This ATM, owned by Union Bank of India, is located in Kupup, now regarded as being the highest one in India. It is located in close proximity to the renowned Nathu La Pass in Sikkim.
