Disadvantages or Limitations of the PERT technique are as follows:

• PERT network is mainly based on time estimates required for each activity. On account of wrong time estimates, the network is bound to become highly unrealistic.

• This technique also does not consider the resources required at different stages of the project.

• Because PERT is a time-focused method, completing projects or activities on time is very important. If this does not occur, a problem may arise.

• It cannot handle situations effectively where two or more projects are sharing the same resources.

• When the precedence and sequential relationships of project activities change, it fails.

• An effective plan necessitates a large amount of information as input. This could be extremely costly ​in terms of time, research, prediction, and resources used.

• We use prediction in the case of PERT because PERT does not have any previous records for a project’s framework. If the prediction is incorrect, the project will be ruined. A lot of time and effort must be invested in creating, developing, and maintaining a proper PERT chart.
