Characteristics / Features of a Good Model in Operation Research:

A model in operation research does not always have the characteristics or features of being a yardstick it can be explanatory rather than merely descriptive. Following are the chief characteristics or features that a good operation research model should have.

1. A good number should be capable of taking into account new formulations without having any significant change in its frame.

2. The number of assumptions made should be as small as possible.

3. It should be simple and coherent, i.e. the number of variables used should be small.

4. A model should not take much time in its construction for any problem.

5. It should express the relations and interrelations of action and reaction of cause and effect in operational situations.

6. It should be open to a parametric type of treatment. Such situations are often forced when the response to an advertising campaign or the customer acceptance of a new product is studied.


ऑपरेशन रिसर्च में एक अच्छे मॉडल के लक्षण / विशेषताएं:

एक मॉडल को हमेशा एक मानदंड या पैमाना नहीं होना चाहिए; यह केवल वर्णनात्मक होने के बजाय व्याख्यात्मक भी हो सकता है। एक अच्छे OR मॉडल की मुख्य विशेषताएं निम्नलिखित हैं-

1. एक सफल मॉडल को अपने ढांचे में कोई महत्वपूर्ण बदलाव किए बिना नए फॉर्मूलेशन को शामिल करने में सक्षम होना चाहिए।

2. अनुमानों की संख्या यथासंभव कम होनी चाहिए, अर्थात अनुमानों की संख्या न्यूनतम रखी जानी चाहिए।

3. यह सरल और सुसंगत होना चाहिए, अर्थात उपयोग किए जाने वाले चरों की संख्या कम या सीमित मात्रा में होनी चाहिए।

4. किसी भी समस्या के लिए, एक मॉडल को बनने में अधिक समय नहीं लगना चाहिए।

5. इसे परिचालन परिस्थितियों (operational situations) में, कारण और प्रभाव की क्रिया और प्रतिक्रिया के संबंधों और अंतर्संबंधों को व्यक्त करना चाहिए।

6. यह एक पैरामीट्रिक प्रकार के उपचार के लिए उत्तरदायी होना चाहिए। ऐसी शर्तें अक्सर लगाई जाती हैं या ऐसी स्थितियों के लिए अक्सर मजबूर किया जाता है जब किसी विज्ञापन अभियान की प्रतिक्रिया या किसी नए उत्पाद की ग्राहक स्वीकृति का अध्ययन किया जाता है।
