Introduction of Inventory Management:

It is necessary for every management to give proper attention to inventory management. A proper planning of purchasing, handling storing and accounting should form a part of inventory management. Because carrying too much or too low of goods is harmful for any business.

• If the inventory is very low i.e. under-stocking, the production of goods may get hampered due to a shortage of materials and the management will face regular stock-outs which will involve high ordering costs.

• On the other hand, if the inventory level is very high i.e. over-stocking, it will unnecessarily increase the cost of inventory.

Therefore, for systematic (well organized) inventory management, it is necessary that the company should maintain an optimum level of inventory where inventory cost is minimum and profit is maximum. An efficient system of inventory management will determine

(a) what to purchase

(b) how much to purchase

(c) from where to purchase

(d) where to store, etc.

The purpose of inventory management is to keep the stocks in such a way that neither there is over-stocking nor under-stocking.

The over-stocking will mean a reduction of liquidity and starving of other production processes; under-stocking, on the other hand, will result in a stoppage of work. The investments in inventory should be kept within reasonable limits.

Introduction of Inventory Management in Hindi:

प्रत्येक प्रबंधन (management) के लिए इन्वेंट्री प्रबंधन पर उचित ध्यान देना आवश्यक है। खरीद, भंडारण और लेखांकन की उचित योजना को इन्वेंट्री प्रबंधन का एक हिस्सा बनाना चाहिए। क्योंकि किसी भी व्यवसाय के लिए बहुत अधिक या बहुत कम माल ले जाना हानिकारक है।

• यदि इन्वेंट्री बहुत कम है अर्थात अंडर-स्टॉकिंग है, तो सामग्रियों की कमी के कारण माल का उत्पादन बाधित हो सकता है और प्रबंधन को नियमित स्टॉक-आउट का सामना करना पड़ेगा जिसमें उच्च ऑर्डरिंग लागत शामिल होगी।

• दूसरी ओर, यदि इन्वेंट्री स्तर बहुत अधिक है अर्थात ओवर-स्टॉकिंग है, तो ये अनावश्यक रूप से इन्वेंट्री की लागत को बढ़ाएगा।

इसलिए, सुव्यवस्थित इन्वेंट्री प्रबंधन के लिए यह आवश्यक है कि कंपनी को इन्वेंट्री का इष्टतम स्तर (इन्वेंट्री प्रबंधन पर उचित ध्यान) रखना चाहिए जहां इन्वेंट्री लागत कम से कम हो और लाभ ज्यादा से ज्यादा हो। इन्वेंट्री प्रबंधन की एक कुशल प्रणाली निर्धारित करेगी कि —

(a) क्या खरीदना है

(b) कितना खरीदना है

(c) कहां से खरीदना है

(d) कहां स्टोर करना है, आदि।

इन्वेंट्री प्रबंधन का उद्देश्य स्टॉक को इस तरह से रखना है कि न तो ओवर-स्टॉकिंग हो और न ही अंडर-स्टॉकिंग।

अधिक स्टॉकिंग (ओवर-स्टॉकिंग) अनावश्यक रूप से इन्वेंट्री की लागत को बढ़ाएगा, इसके अलावा, यह कार्यशील पूंजी को अवरुद्ध करेगा जिसके परिणामस्वरूप सामग्री का अपव्यय होता है; दूसरी ओर, अंडर-स्टॉकिंग के परिणामस्वरूप काम रुक जाएगा। इन्वेंट्री में निवेश को उचित सीमा में रखा जाना चाहिए।
