Health Benefits of Ginger- Ginger has an important place in the Indian kitchen. Ginger not only enhances the taste of food, but also acts as an excellent medicine. It keeps away many problems related to phlegm and digestion. Ginger tea is very famous in winters. Ginger is considered very beneficial for the stomach, digestive system, throat and heart. And if the stomach is fine, then the skin, hair, eyes, throat, nose etc. are all fine. Many health problems can be overcome with ginger.

Ginger production and use

Ginger is definitely used in almost every Indian kitchen. India leads the world in the production of ginger. It is mostly used for making food. Ginger is found everywhere in India. The place where the climate is slightly warm and where sandy land with water is found, that place is considered best for ginger crop.

Ginger is the root of the plant. It does not have seeds, so it is sown by burying only small pieces of its tuber in the ground. Ginger plants are about one and a half to two feet high and its leaves are like small cardamom. Like sweet potato or potato, there are a lot of food items in ginger, due to which it swells and becomes fat.

Ginger is used to make dishes, add to tea, add pickles, make chutneys, make marmalade and make medicine. Ginger is definitely used to make gravy of delicious vegetables. Along with this, ginger is used as a medicine in diseases like cough, cold, phlegm, asthma, jaundice etc. It removes anorexia and also reduces heart diseases.

Ginger and Dry Ginger

Dry Ginger (Sonth) is prepared from Ginger. Dry ginger is also used in cooking and tea. The properties of ginger and dry ginger are almost the same, but ginger is more beneficial and tasty than dry ginger. The use of dry ginger should be limited, because its effect is very hot, but ginger can be used daily in some form or the other.

Benefits of Ginger-

♦ Iron, magnesium, copper, calcium, zinc and plenty of minerals are found in ginger. It removes problems related to digestion, eliminates phlegm, controls cholesterol level, which reduces the chances of heart diseases.

♦ Wash and peel ginger well and cut it into small pieces. Add rock salt and lemon juice to them. By eating these pieces before meals or with meals-
• Hunger opens,
• Anxiety goes away,
• Food is digested properly and constipation is removed.
• Throat and tongue are cleared,
• The problem of phlegm, cough and gas goes away.

♦ Drinking tea mixed with ginger, basil and black pepper is very beneficial to get rid of diseases caused by monsoon and winter like runny nose, headache and cold.

♦ Mixing a little jaggery in ginger juice and eating it early in the morning reduces all kinds of swelling.

♦ Eating ginger juice mixed with a little honey and a pinch of black pepper provides relief in cold and cough, as well as benefits in asthma.

♦ In winter, while making vegetables or pulses, grate ginger and add it, it not only enhances the taste, but also keeps the blood pressure fine and the stomach clean.

♦ Smelling ginger juice cures many problems of nose and throat. Doing this is also considered good for the brain.

♦ Sucking ginger pieces increases appetite, so people who want to increase their weight must chew a small piece of ginger about 15 minutes before the meal. Sucking ginger pieces also ends cough.

♦ Taking dry ginger powder provides relief in joint pain and swelling.

♦ People who have frequent cough or phlegm problems, or
• Whose throat is not clear, or
• Who have a throat infection problem, or
• Those whose food is not digested properly, or
• Those who have frequent gas problems, or
• Those who have a problem of dirt or foul smell in their teeth or mouth,
For such people, the consumption of fresh ginger in monsoon and winter and fresh mint leaves in summer is considered beneficial.

Note- Ginger has many benefits, yet it should be consumed in moderation. It can be consumed daily by adding to vegetables, pulses or in the form of pickles during monsoons and winters. Only the right amount should be added to the daily tea, not too much.
